Get your confidence back with SkinPen microneedling
80% of people between age 11-30 suffer from an acne outbreak at some point, but the resulting scarring can be a permanent reminder. Dr Kathryn is able to use SkinPen to treat facial acne scars to leave you feeling confident in your skin.
What is SkinPen and why do I need it?
SkinPen is a microneedling device that uses collagen induction therapy to remodel scar tissue. Controlled micro-injuries are created with the device to stimulate the body’s natural wound healing process while minimising cellular damage.
It’s the first FDA-approved microneedling device that is so effective 90% of patients would recommend the treatment to family and friends!

Who can be treated?
Safe for all Fitzpatrick skin types, SkinPen can be used to treat acne scars, melasma (light-dark brown or greyish pigmentation) and surgical scars in as few as 3 treatment sessions.
You can be confident that Dr Kathryn will tailor your treatment to optimise your results.
Variable depth settings and cordless design of the SkinPen device offer versatility to adjust the treatment for each individual patient, depending on their skin’s needs.
What happens at my treatment?
Dr Kathryn will analyse your skin to determine the best course of treatment for you. Once your plan is agreed, Dr Kathryn will thoroughly clean your face before applying a topical numbing cream to make your treatment more comfortable. 14 stainless steel medical grade needles vibrate at 7000rpm to stimulate collagen production and improve skin texture.
There are 3 stages in SkinPen microneedling treatment:
- Inflammation – piercing the skin triggers your immune system to disinfect the wounds, remove debris, increase blood flow and begin to create new tissue.
- Proliferation – The wound is rebuilt with new granulation cells (part of the extracellular matrix). Additionally, a new network of blood vessels develops.
- Remodelling – The wound is replaced with new dermal tissues and blood vessels.
Does SkinPen hurt and how long is recovery time?
Patients report virtually no pain, just a mild vibrating sensation. The treatment takes approximately 20-30 minutes, offering results that can last up to 6 months.
Additionally, there is minimum downtime with SkinPen: patients may experience slight redness (similar to sunburn) and a little swelling following treatment, but it should reside within a few days.
You will be given a non-cytotoxic hydrogel, Skinfuse LIFT, to use post-treatment to prevent the skin from drying out during recovery.

SkinPen is suitable for anyone aged 22+, who wants to improve the overall appearance of their skin by reducing scars and evening out texture.
