What’s the treatment?
Marionette lines are the droopy lines from the corners of the mouth to the side of the chin, also known as ‘puppet lines’.
They affect many men and women as age creeps up due to sagging skin and fat low on the upper cheeks causing the face to drop. As we get older we start to the lose collagen layer and with it, our skin loses elasticity too which causes sagging. This sagging may also be due to the loss of facial fat which can also occur with ageing. This fatty layer supports the skin and stretches it taut, so if this layer reduces, the volume is lost and the skin sags – a bit like a deflated balloon.
With sagging and loss of volume to both nasolabial folds (the parentheses lines running from the nose to the mouth), marionette lines start to appear.
