PRP & i-PRF

innovation delivering gradual lasting results.

At Real You Clinic, we offer the latest in regenerative aesthetics with PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) and i-PRF (Injectable Platelet-Rich Fibrin) – two powerful, natural treatments that use your body’s own healing abilities to rejuvenate the skin and stimulate collagen production. Ideal for targeting fine lines, dark circles, hair thinning, and overall skin quality, these treatments are minimally invasive and deliver long-lasting, natural-looking results. Dr Kathryn uses precise, tailored techniques to restore a fresher, more youthful appearance without the need for synthetic products or extensive downtime.

About

Heard of the ‘vampire facial’?

The treatment is popular with celebrities and featured in an episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

The treatment requires a blood sample from the patient which is spun in a centrifuge to separate the platelet rich plasma. PRP can result in in the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles, a minimised appearance of scars (for example acne scars), and a general improvement to skin tone and texture. The treatment can also be effective for treating lines around the mouth, under eye bags, dark circles and crepey skin.

Dr Kathryn expertly combines PRP and i-PRF with treatments like laser therapy, microneedling, or dermal fillers to enhance results. This integrated approach boosts natural skin regeneration and allows for personalised, long-lasting rejuvenation tailored to your needs.

Enhanced Treatments Results

When combined with other advanced procedures, PRP and i-PRF deliver even more powerful and lasting results. At Real You Clinic, Dr Kathryn may recommend pairing these regenerative treatments with:

The science

What is i-PRF?

i-PRF stands for injectable platelet rich fibrin. It is a unique technique that uses the patient’s own blood plasma for rejuvenation. Blood plasma is enriched with platelets (a source of healing proteins and growth factors), fibrins (the wound healing and regeneration matrix) and stem cells (the conductors of our body’s own healing and regeneration modules).

PRF is injected directly into the areas of concern via a thin needle (similar to Mesotherapy), which activates accelerated healing and regeneration. New fibroblasts, collagen and elastin tissues are formed following injection which improves skin elasticity and complexion.

i-PRF has a gentle and gradual effect, but is long-lasting.

Ideal Candidates

i-PRF is an excellent option for individuals seeking a natural, regenerative approach to improve a variety of skin, hair, and joint concerns. It is particularly suitable for those dealing with acne or surgical scarring, stretch marks, skin laxity, hair thinning, or early hair loss. Additionally, it offers therapeutic benefits for joint and soft tissue conditions such as tennis elbow and plantar fasciitis. If you’re looking for a gentle yet effective treatment that uses your body’s own healing factors to rejuvenate and restore, i-PRF may be the ideal solution.

What to Expect Post-Treatment

During the treatment, a small amount of your blood is processed to extract PRP or I-PRF, which is then reinjected into the targeted areas. Post-treatment, you might experience mild swelling or redness, but this typically subsides quickly. Results gradually appear as your skin rejuvenates naturally over time.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do PRP and I-PRF treatments differ?

PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) and I-PRF (Injectable Platelet Rich Fibrin) are both advanced regenerative therapies using components of your blood. PRP focuses on platelet-rich plasma, while I-PRF includes fibrin, a protein that aids in healing. Both treatments stimulate skin rejuvenation but have subtle differences in their composition and application.

If any of the following situations or health conditions apply to you, you would not be suitable for this treatment.

  • Pregnant or breast-feeding
  • Undergoing anticoagulant therapy, such as warfarin
  • Any medical condition having a significant effect on platelet function
  • Haemodynamic instability
  • Sepsis
  • Acute or chronic infections
Will it hurt?

i-PRF is not considered painful. However, some patients do experience minor discomfort because it is an injectable treatment.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments required will be based upon the area to be treated and the severity of the concern. Some problems may need between 3 and 5 sessions at 4-6 week intervals. Joint injections are a single treatment which can be repeated after 3 months.
