Cheek enhancements at Real You
Ageing happens to us all and our face is often one of the first places to show signs of it. Hyaluronic acid and collagen that our bodies naturally produce start to diminish, resulting in less volume and vitality in your skin.
Inadequate cheek volume can flatten the face, make us appear gaunt or tired-looking, and appear less youthful than we once were.
The fat pads that form our cheeks deflate as we age, and fall downwards and inwards, intensifying nasolabial folds (from the nose to mouth). Crows’ feet can also worsen as volume is lost from our cheeks.

One way to defy these tell-tale signs of ageing is with cheek enhancements. Since as early as the 16th Century, implants made of gold, bone and leather were used to add lift and structure to the cheeks, so it’s not a new phenomenon!
Dr Kathryn can use dermal fillers to contour and volumise your cheeks to restore a naturally youthful appearance.
Gentle dermal fillers Dr Kathryn uses at the Real You Clinic include;

These fillers are all hyaluronic acid based, a substance which naturally occurs in your body. Hyaluronic acid attracts moisture, helping your skin retain as much as possible to keep it hydrated, plump and healthy.
You can feel confident in your new look without it being obvious you’ve had any work done, as hyaluronic acid based dermal fillers give subtle and natural looking results.
With a thorough consultation, Dr Kathryn will ensure you receive the most appropriate fillers for your skin and the right treatment plan to achieve the results you desire.
What happens after the fillers are injected?
The chosen fillers are injected beneath the surface of the skin, where the gel takes on characteristics of your body’s own tissue. This means that once the filler is in place, you shouldn’t feel it.
You’ll notice results instantly, with plumper skin and smoother wrinkles, although your skin will settle a few days following your treatment.
Over time your body will naturally break down the gel, and because it is made from hyaluronic acid, it will be reabsorbed by the skin; at which point you can book in for another treatment.
The Right Shape
Cheeks are central to the face, helping to support your eyes and lift shadows out of the mid-face, as well as improving your jawline. They also augment the symmetry of the face, which is associated with glowing health.
According to maths, the Ogee curve is the ideal cheek shape for a youthful appearance – an S shape that creates a smooth transition from the tail of the brow, to the convex fullness of the cheek and tapers towards the mouth.
By using dermal fillers to help create an Ogee curve, older people will look more youthful. Younger patients might opt for cheek fillers to better define their cheekbones.
