Winter is a tough time of year for your skin; cold winds, dry air, central heating and lack of daylight all contribute to common problems.
But that makes it the best time to perfect your skincare regime!
If you feel your skin is looking dry or dull, or you’re experiencing a flare up of Rosacea or Eczema, then a chemical skin peel can restore your skin’s health and give you a winter glow.
A chemical peel is a non-invasive treatment that penetrates deeper into the epidermis than over the counter skincare products; it targets problem skin and encourages rejuvenation. Dr Kathryn will thoroughly assess your skin and recommend a peel that will ensure you get the best results possible.
Your chosen chemical peel is applied with a small brush while you relax. By stimulating skin cell growth, the top layer of skin peels away (over approximately 1 week) to reveal healthy, radiant and younger looking skin.

Why have a skin peel in winter?
- There is less risk of damaging sun exposure in Winter, as UV levels are lower.
- Hyperpigmentation and premature ageing are easier to treat when there is less chance of sun exposure during the winter.
- Skin peels are most effective when completed as a course of treatments. Completing a course of peels in winter means your skin will be ready for the summer!
- Skin care products perform better following a skin peel as there are no dead skin cells preventing them from penetrating the skin – as winter really is the time for upping your skincare game, it’s the perfect time to get your peel.
What can a skin peel treat?
- Black heads
- Oil congestion
- Dry/flaky skin
- Dull/dehydrated skin

- Ageing skin

A skin peel is quick, taking around 15 minutes at Real You Clinic. It’s also virtually pain free – patients may feel a slight tingling or burning sensation during application, but this subsides quickly. These factors (and their effectiveness!) make skin peels a popular treatment.
Following treatment, skin often appears red (similar to sunburn) and will start to peel on day 2 or 3 after the application. Peeling continues for around a week.
It is important to follow the aftercare advice given by Dr Kathryn, and ensure you use any aftercare products given to you, such as an SPF moisturiser, to help the skin recover and achieve the best results.

Real You Clinic offers Obagi Blue Peel RADIANCE, VI Peel and The Perfect Peel – Dr Kathryn will work with you to decide on the most appropriate option.
