Weight Loss Injections - Assisted Medical Weightloss Program
Medical weight loss injections – Doctor prescribed
Weight Loss Injections
Dr Kathryn offers a medical, injectable weight loss management solution, containing a UK licensed, FDA-approved prescription medicine called liraglutide – also known as Saxenda. When self-injected once a day, the treatment works effectively and reliably to control your appetite, curb your hunger and reduce any cravings.
Saxenda weight loss injections are most effective as a weight loss solution when combined with a healthy, calorie controlled diet and an increase in physical activity. Daily calorie intake should be reduced by 500, and physical activity increased to 30 minutes per day.
You can inject the Saxenda weight loss medication at any time of day, with or without food. Providing the medicine is administered once-daily, you can take it whenever suits you best, although it is recommended to administer the dose around the same time of day.
Reduce your appetite, keep a calorie-controlled diet and achieve your weight loss goals with a medical weightloss solution.
How do weight loss injections work?
Following a thorough assessment using Dr Kathryn’s high-tech body composition analysis machine to establish your daily recommended calorie intake, she may prescribe weight loss injections for appetite suppression.
Saxenda weight loss injections work by activating the areas of the brain that regulate appetite, leading to reduced feelings of hunger and increased feelings of fullness and satiety.
Glucagon-like peptide (GLP-1) is a naturally occurring hormone which is released from the intestines after eating. Receptors in the brain are activated when GLP-1 is released, letting us know when we are “full”. Saxenda is a synthetic copy of GLP-1, contained within the device, which, when injected, gives the sensation of being full, even when you have not eaten.
As a self-administered injection, the device is an easy-to-use, tiny, dose-adjustable pen, pre-filled with the Saxenda medication.
Studies have shown patients treated with Saxenda achieve significantly more weight loss, and maintain that loss, compared to patients who are just dieting. Patients also experienced further benefits, including lower blood glucose levels, improved blood pressure, smaller waist circumference, improvements in sleep apnoea and generally improved health-related quality of life.
Are weight loss injections safe?
This program offers an effective, safe and healthy weight loss solution. Combined with a healthy diet plan and regular exercise, weight loss injections not only help you lose weight, but also curb hunger and cravings, ensuring you keep the weight off. When combining a healthy diet plan and increased physical activity with Saxenda weight loss injections, you will release stored fat and lose weight quicker. As a result, it is likely you will develop much more positive, healthy lifestyle habits and increase your motivation.
The device uses Saxenda, the only approved injectable prescription medicine available in the UK for weight loss. Used for weight loss in the USA since 2014, it has been thoroughly tested through a number of rigorous clinical trials and tests, and has been fully licensed in the UK for weight loss since January 2017. The same drug, under a different trade name, has been used for patients with type 2 diabetes in the UK since 2009.
Dr Kathryn will explain the treatment in full and answer any questions you may have about the safety of self-administered weight loss injections, as well as discuss any side effects you may experience.
Can anyone be prescribed weight loss injections?
As a prescription weight-loss solution, Saxenda weight loss injections can only be prescribed for you by somebody with the legal authority to do so, such as Dr Kathryn. Because of the regulation surrounding prescription-only weight loss medication in the UK, any clinic prescribing this treatment must be registered with the Care Quality Commission.
The Saxenda weight loss injection treatment program cannot be prescribed to:
- any individual with a history of thyroid cancer or pancreatitis
- anybody with a BMI less than 28
- any patients taking insulin
- pregnant or breast feeding women
- anybody under the age of 18
Dr Kathryn will ask you to complete a detailed medical, physical and lifestyle assessment form to ensure that the program is safe for your use. For best results, it should be used in conjunction with a reduced calorie diet and increased daily physical activity.
In addition, Dr Kathryn will continue to check up with you during your program to give you any ongoing support you may need.
Results for patients using weight loss injections
Since 2014, Saxenda weight loss injections have been used in the USA and have had some great results. Medical studies involving over 3,000 people were conducted to better understand the benefits and the risks associated with taking Saxenda. The results all showed significant weight loss for the patients using the injectable treatment.
Along with a low-calorie meal plan and increased physical activity, people in the study lost nearly 2.5 times more weight with Saxenda weight loss injections as opposed to those who were given a placebo. The patients who were given a placebo lost an average of 7lb, while those using Saxenda lost a huge 17.3lb in the same time period. 8 out of 10 patients also managed to maintain their weight loss, and keep the extra weight off.
