Dr Kathryn Taylor-Barnes Is the Lead Trainer for Algeness® Filler in the UK

Algeness is a type of volumizing filler made of Agarose, a natural derivative of seaweed (red algae) – the most biocompatible material available today, and is the basic material used for biocompatibility testing throughout the medical and scientific community. It has been used safely in Europe for over 10 years.

Algeness is ideal for filling wrinkles, fine lines, deep furrows, or even improving acne scars. In less than 30 minutes Dr Kathryn can use Algeness to restore or add volume to create voluptuous lips, smooth crow’s feet around the eyes, add volume to your cheeks and instantly smooth nasolabial folds, immediately rewinding time giving you a more youthful appearance.

Algeness

Algeness is an all natural biomaterial consisting of a purified agarose gel (polysaccharide). Algeness has been tested extensively in clinical trials and has been commercially available since 2006. With no natural enzymes in the body to metabolise Algeness, the agarose biomaterial moves very little from the injection site.

Biocompatibility

The biocompatibility of agarose is well known. It is 100% biocompatible, well tolerated by the cells and body tissues and doesn’t cause reactions. The immune system does not respond to Algeness either. The gel is gradually absorbed by the body over time.

Longevity of Filler

Algeness is clinically proven to have a slower absorption rate than other dermal fillers, especially those made of hyaluronic acid, meaning less follow up maintenance is required.

Safe & Effective

There have been no serious reactions reported with the use of Algeness, so there is no risk of having an unwanted reaction with the treatment. Being biocompatible means your body doesn’t reject the filler, so you can feel confident you will achieve great results.

Natural Results

Immediate results feel softer and more natural without the chance of tissue hardening or “illusionary” filling effects of HA fillers.

Latest Generation Dermal Filler Material

Algeness will restore loss of volume in the skin, erase fine lines and wrinkles, and provide lift to those areas of flaccidity, all tell-tale signs of ageing. You’ll see instant results with Algeness.

Algeness has been clinically shown to last longer than the leading dermal fillers.

Algeness post-injection pain is non-existent compared to traditional dermal fillers thanks to the unique bio compatibility properties of Agarose.

Algeness FAQ

Is Algeness safe?

Algeness has been in use since 2006 in the dental and maxillofacial fields in Italy. It has undergone thorough clinical testing to ensure it’s safe to use.

Will it hurt?

As with all injectable treatments, some discomfort may occur. Dr Kathryn may apply a numbing cream to the injection site to minimise pain. Algeness does not induce allergic or foreign body reactions. There is less discomfort  following treatment as well.

How long is treatment and recovery time?

The treatment itself will take between 20 and 50 minutes depending on how many areas are being treated. Recovery time can be a few hours to several days, again, depending on the area treated. You can return to normal activities straight after the injection, and Dr Kathryn will discuss after care in detail with you at your appointment.

When will I see results?

Results from Algeness are immediate. The gel is not hydrophilic and does not contain any cross linking, as found with hyaluronic acid based fillers, which take longer to work.

How long do results last?

You can expect your results to last 1 year or longer depending on the amount of gel injected and the depth.

Are there any side effects?

Following treatment, you may notice a little swelling and redness in the treated area but this should subside after 1-2 days.
